About Us

ThreadCycle is a clothing resale and redistribution company based in Lynchburg, Virginia. We specialize in sourcing large volumes of secondhand apparel and carefully sorting every item to determine its best next use. Rather than relying on the traditional “A and B grade” system used by many used-clothing operations, each piece is individually inspected so condition and resale potential are clearly understood. This hands-on process allows us to efficiently move thousands of items while maintaining consistent quality across our inventory.

We sell through multiple channels including online marketplaces, community pop-up sales, and wholesale inventory for resellers and small business owners. Our model is built around price differentiation, creating different pathways for clothing depending on its value and demand. Higher-value items are sold individually online, large volumes are offered at deeply discounted pop-up events, and sorted inventory is made available to wholesale buyers looking for dependable, resale-ready clothing. We also partner with local charities, donating more than 30% of the clothing we process while removing the worst-of-the-worst items first, helping reduce the unusable waste many organizations would otherwise have to manage.

Lowest Pricing

At ThreadCycle, keeping prices as low as possible is central to how we operate. By selling directly through our website, we eliminate the roughly 20% platform fees commonly charged by marketplaces like eBay and Poshmark, allowing us to pass those savings directly on to our customers. We also offer free shipping on website orders (excluding wholesale), making it even easier to get great deals without hidden costs. Our commitment to affordability extends across all of our sales channels. Wholesale buyers can access bulk inventory typically priced between $0.50 and $3 per item, creating strong margin opportunities for resellers and small shop owners, while our local pop-up events are designed to serve the community with most clothing priced at $3 or less. Whether you are shopping online, buying wholesale, or visiting one of our pop-ups, our goal is simple: move great clothing at prices that make sense for everyone.

Our Process

Source

We source clothing from multiple suppliers in-bulk. These include stale consignment inventory, donation buy-backs, pallet sales, estate sales, and flea markets. Right now we processes a little over 1,000 lbs of inventory every single week! With plans to grow to 5,000 lbs by the end of 2026.

Grade
Every item that enters our operation is individually inspected and evaluated for condition, wear, and resale potential. Items in good wearable condition without major flaws are typically classified as Grade A, while pieces with minor wear or small imperfections may fall into Grade B. Items that are no longer suitable for resale or donation are separated for textile recycling or responsible disposal.
List
We reserve the top 5% of items we process for individual resale through our online channels, including our website, Poshmark, and eBay. While these items may appear across multiple platforms, the best value is always on our website, where shoppers can save around 20% compared to marketplace pricing. Website customers also receive free shipping, making it the most affordable way to purchase our top-tier inventory.
Wholesale
Our wholesale offerings consist primarily of Grade A, mid-tier mall and department store brands such as J.Crew, Loft, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and similar labels that consistently perform well in the resale market. These items are sorted, inspected, and bundled to give resellers reliable inventory with typical resale values often ranging from $10 to $25 per item depending on platform and selling strategy. Our wholesale inventory is especially well suited for online resellers, live auction sellers, flea market vendors, and thrift operators who focus on dependable “bread and butter” brands that move quickly.
Pop-Up
Items that are not sold through our wholesale program are offered to the public through our community pop-up bin sales, where customers shop directly from bins at deeply discounted prices. While some inventory may already be picked through, shoppers can still expect to find plenty of great deals across a wide range of sizes and categories. A typical pop-up event attracts 600+ customers and moves over 2,500 items in a single day.
Donate
We believe quality clothing should continue serving the community whenever possible. Items classified as Grade B, along with inventory that has remained unsold after approximately six months of pop-up events, are donated to nonprofit organizations and local charities. These donations represent roughly 30% to 50% of the inventory we process, and we make a point to donate only clean, wearable garments, never damaged or unusable items.
